GENERAL MEETING: Our next meeting is Wednesday, March 10th, 7:00 PM at the Sheridan Center, 680 Lebo Blvd. in East Bremerton.
Our guest speaker is Rob Indlesy of Prince of Wales Charters.
BOARD MEETING: We will meet at 7:00 PM, March 16th at the Windemere Real Estate Office, 9939 NW Mickelberry Rd. in Silverdale.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS: Nomination of officers continues followed by election at this meeting.
CCA: At the February meeting the board voted to sponsor a table for eight at the March 27th CCA Banquet. Those who pay first will get the eight spots at the Poggie table. Troy Hatler of AquaTech will also be sponsoring a table.
HALIBUT SEASON: The halibut season has been set for this year and will start on May 1st. The days will be Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays except Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the end of the month (Memorial Day Weekend).
HALIBUT DERBY: The Club’s Halibut Derby will be May 8th. Weigh in will be 3:30 PM at the John Wayne Marina. See Troy Hatler for $20 tickets. 792-2628
STURGEON FISHING: Our club fishing trip to Ilwaco had to be rescheduled from Sunday, June 27th to Saturday, June 26th because the “catch and keep season” closes after June 26th. If you want to go, you need to call Pacific Salmon Charters 800-831-2695 and tell them you want to be on the Kitsap Poggie Club charter boat Sea Venture on June 26th.
LAKE TAHUYA: The court summary judgment was held on February 16th. Judge Jeanette Dalton will make a decision on March 26th. She will have to decide if the WDFW property has riparian rights, as the original state land purchase went to the lake meander line instead of the lake edge. The TLCC also claimed that riparian rights do not apply to the lake because the dam turned it into a reservoir. We will see if the TLCC can deny the state the right to put in public access.
COFFEE: We need a Poggie to take care of preparing coffee for our meetings and other events. This involves storing the coffee pots, cups, sugar, creamer, etc. The person would also prepare hot chocolate for the Kids’ Fishing Party in April. The Club pays for these expenses.
FISH FEEDING: The Club needs a coordinator to assure that feeding gets done. If the scheduled person is unable to work on his day, the coordinator assigns an alternate from his list.
SUNNYSLOPE SCHOOL: The Salmon In the Classroom Project is drawing to a close for this year. In early January we were saddened by the failure of the aquarium tank cooling system. It resulted in losing the first school of fish which had been started from eyed eggs. New salmon were provided as replacements, but were a little more mature than those lost. Everything is on schedule for the fry to be released in mid to late March. The release is a great field day for the fourth graders and a highlight of elementary school years. The date will be announced at our general meeting. Please join us.
